'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith continues clash with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he reminisces about the thrilling final moments of Swansea's remarkable turnaround win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a spectator's eyewear after the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range effort from outside the box, and the defender immediately slammed home the rebound before charging toward the crowd to mark the goal, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Stunning Reversal

The result capped an incredible turnaround given the Welsh side had trailed 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. In the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result secured a fourth-round match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. Galbraith had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the bar and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that range," stated Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right wing-back after they changed formation. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the player was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way the underdogs attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It feels like they never miss a pass and they know how to dictate and slow down a game. You can think you're holding your own and then without warning they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be alert every second of the game. It requires a strong mentality and concentration just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He made a name as a fans' favourite across a couple of years at Leyton Orient and has swiftly achieved similar status in Wales. At his previous team he reunited with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier Salford City, before he departed Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say youth team games is very different. Sometimes it appears the ball is moved without serious challenge. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

He has shown that development for his team and nation, performing well for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the last several matches, including two matches encounters against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a killer pass.

Starting Out

This represents quite the ride for the player from the local area in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's only game for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they played on an synthetic surface and the stadium roof was closed owing to temperatures of -15C. "This represented a long trip and it was cold out there," he says, grinning. "The week before, myself and quite a few of the young lads practiced as a group, so that aided our adjustment. Just to join the main group and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged his mid-teens? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I realized I wasn't going to make it at the top level. I'm hugely grateful for the years at the club but it got to the point where I believed I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the young professional was a regular in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a minibus driven by team personnel, the transport team, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to socialize with the teammates but I'm hoping to be the following person to stop using the bus and on the road. Franco likes to pull a few pranks; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

While playing for Leyton Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on the Tube after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
